An Awe-inspiring Electronic Endeavor
As the executive editor of TheFirearmsChannel.com, I receive many requests to write reviews of new products. Some products are good. Some products are great. Some products are amazing.

Generally speaking, I write about great products. Interestingly enough, to date, only once have I written about a product twice. The Firearms Guide holds that unique distinction.

You might ask, “Why is that so? Isn’t it, after all, just a DVD?” What’s the big deal?”

Well, to start, let me thank you for those three great questions. And, let me answer your question by asking you a question: Is the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel anything more than just a bunch of nice, old paintings?

Okay, to be fair, my question is a rhetorical one. However, you are no less compelled to ask:  What’s the point of this comparison?

Here goes…

The 2nd Edition of the Firearms Guide is like the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel in that both are artistic works without precedent or equal. That’s why it deserves a brand new Editor’s Choice write-up.

The scale and scope of this intricate, electronic endeavor is awe-inspiring.  And, like the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel, the more you see, the more it reveals itself to you. The details are divine.

This incredible 2nd Edition DVD from The Firearms Guide contains useful information on over 50,000 firearms from over 425 manufacturers along with literally, many thousands of specs, schematics, and hi-resolution photos ideal for gunsmiths and the 'Do-it-Yourself-ers'.

Delve into this DVD with gusto so that the next time you visit your local firearms retailer, you will be powerfully knowledgeable. Speaking of firearms retailers, this DVD also has an FFL locator to help find any dealer in the country.

The 2nd Edition of the Firearms Guide is an eloquent visual expression of tremendously useful data.

Robert Motherwell, American abstract expressionist painter and philosopher, said: “Art is much less important than life, but what a poor life without it."

Enrich your life, today. Get the 2nd Edition of the Firearms Guide. It’s amazing!

Seeing Is Believing

       For me, substance trumps style.
However, having said that, I can't easily dismiss the functional and contemporary good looks of the Diamondback Firearms DB380.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for my money, this micro-compact .380 automatic pistol has, by far, the best design lines of any concealed-carry handgun that is currently available on the market.

Quick note:  To all those handgun reviewers who feel it necessary to point out that the Diamondback Firearms DB380 resembles a popular and well-known semi-auto pistol manufactured at Smyrna, Georgia, I say, "SO WHAT"!

Despite the fact that, as a manufacturer, Diamondback Firearms might be flattered by the comparison, the truth is that irrespective of its bold, albeit familiar overall shape, the DB380 definitely stands on its own merits and reflects a clarity of vision and innovation that exceeds all expectations.

I like the squared trigger guard and the protective sweep of the top of the back strap. I also like the distinctive ribbing on the front of the grip and the serrations on the slide of this delightfully diminutive handgun.

Pick one up and you will immediately see the meticulous attention to detail that is built into each Diamondback Firearms DB380.  You will see superior craftsmanship.  And, you will see EXCEPTIONAL fit and finish. By the way, dear reader, for your information, in my book, there's nothing better than exceptional.

The Diamondback Firearms DB380 is a well-made concealed-carry handgun that delivers a very satisfying experience at the shooting range.

Setting aside its physical appearance, the Diamondback Firearms DB380 distinguishes itself as a Best in Class concealed-carry handgun for ease of carry, dependability, durability, and exhilarating performance.

Regarding its performance, I was pleasantly surprised by the useful, adjustable sights that allowed me to quickly acquire a proper sight picture.  I was also well pleased with the accuracy and the print of tight groups on the paper target at seven yards.

Quick Tip:  I found that when I squeezed the trigger smoothly and straight to the rear using my index finger and not my whole hand it helped me with placement.

The Diamondback Firearms DB380 is an amazing, Made in the USA, pocket pistol that weighs in at 8.8 ounces empty.  It has a barrel length of 2.8 inches, an overall length of 5.2 inches, a capacity of 6+1, and a five pound DAO trigger pull.

BOTTOM LINE:  For the price, quality workmanship and eye-catching appeal, you won't find a better value.

Cobra Firearms Hits Homeruns!

Forgive the sports reference but, it is, after all, baseball season.

Not too long ago, I contacted Cobra Firearms of Salt Lake City, Utah. I shared with them my vision for a new series of professional grade product reviews for my website.

Cobra Firearms saw the merits of what I had to offer and quickly sent me two of their pistols.

Literally within days, I received their new Shadow Revolver (.38 SPL.) and their very attractive Big Bore Derringer (.22mag).

I contacted the folks at Scottsdale Gun Club and they agreed to be our host site.

Then, I contacted Gary Kieft at Dillon Precision and he agreed to be my guest “reviewer”.

Everything was set for a great afternoon of shooting pistols.

With eyes & ears on, we proceeded to our respective shooting lanes.  We eagerly opened the distinctive light blue boxes and…And then it happened: mechanical problems.

In the product review, Gary commented favorably on the accuracy of The Shadow Revolver and less favorably on its reliability. He did find that, on occasion, the cylinder would not align properly and therefore the revolver would not cycle and discharge.

With the Big Bore Derringer, Gary was concerned about workmanship.  He found that with two chambered cartridges, this Derringer would not close and lock.  To see these videos, click on: http://www.thefirearmschannel.com/ProductReviews.html

THE GAME CHANGER…Yes, my friends, this is where it gets really good!

I got back to my office on a Tuesday morning and I contacted Cobra Firearms. I spoke with Jake, technical specialist. After sharing with him our experience, he offered several possible reasons for the malfunctions.

Jake expressed genuine concern and a sincere desire to resolve the matter.  He offered to have the pistols picked up right away.  Sure enough, the next morning, FedEx showed up at my office and the pistols headed back to Cobra Firearms.

By Friday morning, and much to my surprise, FedEx delivered to my office a box from Cobra Firearms.  I expected these guys to take two weeks to two months to resolve the matter.  Instead, Cobra Firearms did it in two days.  Really?  Yes, really!

I immediately called Jake. He assured me that, despite the speedy turnaround time, the issues on both pistols had been completely resolved.

With great haste, I drove to the nearest indoor shooting range with intentions of running 100 rounds through each pistol.

I must admit, it's only my second time shooting a Derringer.  And, truth be told, I’m not a huge fan.  I’m more of a semi-auto pistol kind of guy.

Nevertheless, there I was in a semi-dark shooting lane with a brand new, chrome-finished Derringer. I have to tell you, the first 20 rounds seemed like a down right miserable chore - even torture.

I really thought about quitting especially in light of the fact that the trigger on this Derringer requires a very deliberate pull.

But then, a funny thing happened. I got into a sort of smooth Zen like routine of loading, firing, and unloading.  Hey, this is kind of fun, I thought.

Set at 10 feet away, I began to notice tight groups on my T12 paper target. Drudgery soon gave way to absolute delight as the Derringer performed flawlessly.

Now, with The Shadow Revolver in hand, I was firing five shots at a time instead of two so in no time I finished 100 rounds.

I did encounter one very minor point issue with The Shadow Revolver.   I noticed that when I’d tip the revolver over to remove the brass, four would drop out but one would stick in the same chamber.  It could be that the steel cylinder was warming.  But, regardless, I resolved it with a bore snake and some Break-Free.

In the end, like the Big Bore Derringer, I found The Shadow Revolver a real joy to shoot. More importantly, I found Cobra Firearms to be a real stand-up firearms manufacturer.

The truth is: Sometimes things happen. And, bottom line, a pistol is only as good as the company that backs it up.

For super responsive customer support and for producing great quality guns at affordable prices, Cobra Firearms wins!

Every once in a while something comes down the proverbial pike that makes you say, yeah! Such is the case with the Firearms Multimedia Guide by Impressum Media, Inc.

Whether you’re a new-comer to the world of firearms or a seasoned operator, you will appreciate this handy, digital reference guide.

With the Firearms Multimedia Guide, every bit of information you could possibly need is right there on your computer. It’s easy to use and surprisingly affordable.

At the 2010 SHOT Show, I had the pleasure of meeting Kresimir (Chris) Mijic, founder and editor of Impressum Media, Inc.

Chris stands out in a crowd like a James Bond walking through a fancy European-style casino.  He’s polite, polished, and professional.  And, despite his Hollywood good looks, he’s a real down-to-earth kind of guy.

I tell you this because you can learn a lot about a company and their products by talking with the person who runs it.  So, with that in mind, here’s an excerpt of a recent conversation I had with Chris.

MG:  Tell me about your reference guide.

KM:  I like lots of details so I’ve put plenty of technical specs and the high resolution pictures into this DVD.

MG:  What’s the searchability like?

KM:  You can choose from 14 different search criteria.  Once you’ve made your choice of firearm such as handgun, rifle, shotgun, or airgun you can go deeper, much deeper into your search.

MG:  What exactly is in your DVD?

KM:  The Firearms Multimedia Guide is an easy to navigate DVD that contains over 41,000 different firearms, 345 different manufacturers, 24,000 high-res pictures, and much more.

MG:  It sounds quite extensive.

KM:  Extensive.  Yes, I hear that often.  Thank you.  But I am also really proud of the fact that we’re better than internet search engines such as Google.

MG:  How do you mean?

KM:  Google is a Goliath.  But I see my DVD as David’s stone.  It’s a very precise, time-saving tool that will help you find just the right gun.

KM:
With Google, no offense, all you really get with them is just more websites not results.  To make my point, try this exercise. Go to the Google search bar and type in the words:  Pistol, 9mm Luger, Made in USA - Your search will produce a mind-boggling 53,500 websites.  However, type in the same search criteria in my Firearms Multimedia Guide, and your search will produce 72 pistols all with detailed tech specs, prices, and amazing hi-res pictures.

KM:  Here's another quick example.  Let's say you want a Pistol, 45 ACP, Made in USA, with polymer frame, a stainless slide finish, an accessory rail, in the $500-$1,000 price range - with my DVD, you will find seven pistol choices.  Try doing that with Google.  Now that's what I call pin-point accurate and rapid results.

MG:  Thanks Chris.

After trying the Firearms Multimedia Guide for myself, I can tell you that the results are brilliant and immediate.  There's no need to ever waste time cross-referencing dead-tree publications such as gun magazines or other periodicals.

Bottom line:  For less than what you pay for a box of ammo, you can get the most comprehensive, most entertaining, and most interesting digital firearms guide on the market today.

The Completion of an Amazing Vision

"History is who we are and why we are the way we are", said David McCullough (Author, historian, and winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom – The United States’ highest civilian award) and so it is in the reloading world.

In the not too distant past, Xavier Gonzalez managed the research and design division of Dillon Precision.  He also helped design the Dillon Precision XL650, SL900, and RL1050 reloading machines.

Today, “Mr. X”, who not only works on special projects for Dillon Aero, heads-up GSI International where he designs and manufactures an exceptional bullet feeder.

If you want to take your Dillon Precision XL650 or RL1050 reloading machine to the next level of progression, The GSI International Bullet Feed System is for you.

If producing larger numbers of cartridges quickly and consistenly is important to you than the GSI International Bullet Feed System is definitely for you.

The GSI International Bullet Feed System is truly unique in that it’s more than your average after-market accessory that you rig-up to your reloader.

In fact, the GSI International Bullet Feed System is the final piece of a precise puzzle; a fully-integrated part of your Dillon Precision reloading machine.

I’ve seen other bullet feeders but, for my money, nothing makes more sense
than to get one from the guy who knows my Dillon Precision reloading machine inside and out.

I also like the GSI International Bullet Feed System because it’s so carefully crafted of the finest materials and engineered to the most-exacting standards – “Mr. X” wouldn’t have it any other way.

Bottom line:  If you like to load your own, you will love the GSI International Bullet Feed System because it's the past and the present perfectly pressed.
